What Our Alumni Say

Hear Directly From Our Participants

Being Head Girl made me, first of all, very confident in the value that I brought to the table. Because I led the entire school, I was able to stand on the validity of the decisions I had and lead with empathy, respect and confidence. It also helped me to become better at public speaking and persuasion, getting people to come on board on any project I launch. Almost a decade and a half later, I still refer to my experience as a head girl as it set the tone for public leadership for me. My life has been better for it.

Orifunke Lawal

Head Girl: 2010

I experienced so much emotional, social, psychological and academic growth as I served in this position. I had to balance it with school work which taught me to strike a balance in all areas in my life despite being a leader. My decision-making skills greatly improved and before I knew it, I became a good decision-maker even when it came to my own life. This was previously a bit of a problem. My perspective towards leadership was moulded into being a person of influence, I found many emulating me. I also became stronger emotionally as I encountered several experiences in my leadership position. I began making decisions from a rational point of view rather than just an emotional point of view.

Special thanks to the facilitators and organizers of the WILAN Institute program. The Workplace Dynamics module deeply reshaped my thinking on this: success is not just about doing the work, but about how well you position your ideas and communicate your value.

The journey so far has been incredibly promising, focusing on Self-Discovery. Career Clarity, Leadership & Confidence. I'm realizing that feeling bad about where you are is often just a sign that you're ready for more. I'm showing up, doing the work, and trusting the process. Better days are being built right now.

The Self-Discovery and Time Management modules also left a lasting impression, giving me practical tools to better understand myself, manage my priorities, and become more effective both personally and professionally.
